Haruko Akiyama, 96, of Keaau died Sept. 27 at home. Born in Hilo, she retired as a proprietor for Akiyama Store and an agent for American Mutual Life Insurance Co. She was a member of the Keaau Village Association, Puna Hongwanji Kyodan and Fujinkai, Kurtistown Jodo Mission and the Keaau Senior Citizen Club. Memorial services will be held at the Puna Hongwanji on Wednesday. Visitation at 2 p.m., service at 3:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the Keaau Community Center. Casual attire. No flowers.
